Different Perspectives on God and Country

So, on the morning of July 3, I woke up to see the following on my twitter feed.  Notice tweets from LonnieMattingly, darrinpatrick, ScottyWardSmith and erguncaner.  Click on the image to see a larger view.  (Of course, don’t forget to follow Understanding Our Times on twitter)  Talk about different perspectives!

And then on my way to church, I encounter this church sign from a nearby church (which I do not attend!)
(You may have to click on the small box below, for some reason wordpress is not working right)

Where do I even begin with this one?

As for a final thought on this subject, I leave you with my facebook status from yesterday morning:

I stand with churches who wish to acknowledge the graciousness of God in allowing us to live in a free nation as we mark our country’s birth this weekend; however, we must never lose sight of the fact that whenever the body meets together only one Person is to be glorified, praised and worshipped and that is our ultimate purpose behind everything we do.
