Technical Truth

Whoever speak the truth gives honest evidence, but a false witness utters deceit.—Proverbs 12:17

Christians ought to be known for truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.  However, often times we find ourselves looking for the “technical truth” instead of the real truth.  Technical truth is an attempt to deceive someone by using what is only technically true by some loophole or weird way of thinking.  For example, you inform your teacher that you read a particular assignment without having read the entire assignment.  The teacher walks away thinking you did as required, but you walk away thinking, “Technically I can say read the assignment, I never said I read the WHOLE assignment.”  While the technical words you said were correct, you lied and deceived others.  This is sin.  May the Lord keep us truthful and honest as He displayed for us.  Are you a completely truthful person?
