The Gospel as A Worldview

This week is Spiritual Emphasis Week at Rock County Christian School.  I invited Pastor Andy Walman of Hope Evangelical Free Church in Roscoe, IL to come and speak to our students for the week.  Please be praying for the Lord to work mightily.

Our theme this year is “Breaking Down the Barriers.”  Every day will feature a different barrier which inhibits our relationship with the Lord.  Along with this, I have put together a small devotional booklets for the teens to use.  Each day has a thought for the week which I thought I would share with you all.  Here is today’s thought of the day.

Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel,  – Philippians 1:27

For some Christians, the gospel is merely a past event—something they have already done and rarely think about anymore.  However, the gospel is much more than an event, it is a worldview.  The gospel of Jesus requires a humble submission to the sovereignty of God.  In the gospel we see ourselves for who we really are—wicked sinners deserving of God’s wrath, yet enjoying the wonderful benefits of God’s grace and mercy.  This worldview ought to be a part of we think of ourselves, our service to God and our ministry to others.  How do you live out the gospel in your life?
