Understanding Our Times: Current Affairs in the Light of Redemptive History with Pastor Bob Bixby

Everyone who knows me understands my passion that Christians ought to be engaged in the political realm.  I believe we ought to fight to preserve the liberty God has granted this country.  However, we must never forget that our citizenship as Christians is not of this world.  We must never lose sight of the fact that our only hope and security is found in the gospel, not the government.  Often times we are too easily swayed by the doomsday scenarios painted by conservative talk radio hosts.  This week we will be airing a sermon preached by Pastor Bob Bixby of the Morning Star Baptist Church in Rockford, IL.  In this message, Pastor Bixby warns Christians not to be swept away by unregenerate voices of Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh.  While we should be engaged in the culture around us, we are always to be firmly planted on the rock of our salvation – not blown away by conspiracy theories or the latest “Obama-induced” crisis situation.
