Tonight’s Live Rolling Commentary of the CNN Tea Party Debate.

Let me start off by saying, this was a great idea from CNN.  I love the idea of Tea Party groups getting to ask the GOP candidates their questions.  I thought most of the questions were about important issues and topics that appealed to this tea party guy at least.  Kudos to CNN (wow, I never thought I would be saying that…). 

Who won – hard to say.  I thought Governor Perry had a great start, but then was beaten up preety bad with forced vaccinations of little girls in Texas and not going far enough on illegal immigration.  His responses were pretty lame. Ron Paul had a pretty bad night (though I loved his tie).  You just can’t shift all the blame for 911 on American interventionism, especially the day after the 10th anniversary!!  Huntsman just sounds like a Democrat and Romney can’t seem to pull himself off the ropes (though I will give him credit as he stayed consistant and did not pander to the Tea Party crowd).  Both Michelle Bauchmann and Rick Santorum had good nights and Newt was as solid as ever.  If I had to pick just one winner - I would go with Santorum.

Huntsman calls Perry’s comments on immigration treasonous. #CNNTeaParty

Its not popular among the Tea Party, but @TeamRickPerry seems pretty reasonable on immigration.

@RickSantorum – do u really think English as the official language would bring more Latinos to the GOP? Really? #CNNTeaParty

I’ll say this about @MittRomney – he’s consistent in his message and not pandering to the tea party crowd. #CNNTeaParty

Round 1 clearly goes 2 @TeamRickPerry. He cleaned @MittRomney ‘s clock – sounded the most genuine, displayed true leadership. #CNNTeaParty

@RonPaul right on target – bring our troops home and cut all unconstitutional federal departments/agencies. #cnnteaparty

Newt – “I’m not worried about Romney/Perry scaring seniors – Obama does it everyday!” Newt is the man! #cnnteaparty

Wow, @TeamRickPerry is actually sounding stronger than @RonPaul on social security! #cnnteaparty
